Weekend in The Basin (not its not my sink lol)

The Basin, Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, NSW
NSW - The Basin, Palm Beach

so after a very succesful bar review at Grandma's Bar - It was then time for a weekend away with friends (me and 1 who are scared of spiders and snakes so great start aye) to The Basin. for those who know me and my partner Micheal, we are officially the most unorganised couple EVER! we hadn't packed our stuff - or even put up the tent to make sure all was there we then also needed a second one as our neighbour said they would lend it us, but again because we are so unorganised we never did get it!! tut tut!....

So firstly frantically trying to find a tent, could we NO!.. typical... so the only way was to buy another one on the way and 3 sleeping bags ($140 later *rolls eyes*) we also had to stop and get food and booze because, yes you guessed it, we didn't even get that sorted haha!! Finally we where on our way to Palm Beach. Now ive been to Palm Beach from Sydney and usually takes about 45 minutes or so... today NO! 1hr and half!!! i mean c'mon I wana get somewhere, but yesturday was one of those days where you had IT ALL from rain whilst waiting, traffic, the first 3 shops you go in not having what you needed!! just craziness!...

So we finally made it to Palm Beach Ferry Wharf, with WAYYY to many bags and eskys for a party of 12 let alone 6 haha! We gets on this little ferry, little i mean little!... this boat you wouldn't get on if you had a choice it looked wayyy to old and the whole boat vibrated when stationary from the engine. the ferry journey takes 20 minutes and costs $13 return! so after zig zagging our way through boats to get to The Basin wharf we gets off and this place is breath taking! absolutely breath taking! surrounded by big tree covered mountains, and dotted around this tent was about 30 tents! this camp site isnt huge, you could walk from one end to the other in about 10 minutes. The Basin itself is one of the most beautiful things I have seen here so far! For those who have watched the film "The Beach" where he ends up in that still, tranquil and quiet pool, its just like that!! AMAZE - cue out mate with his SLR camera taking photos!! haha..

There is communal ire pits and BBQ's and are free to use with the price (please see details below) Around you is free hopping walabe's and we got up VERY close and personal with some of them (photos to follow). After a VERY comical situation where we had to put up the tents to which halfway through I throw a tantrum "NOOOO im not doing it, no no no no NO, I wasnt born to put up a tent" haha! typical me when I can't do something aye! lol... We decided it was drink time - cue a 5litre box of goon (rose wine) BLADDERED!

NOTE TO SELF: dont try and scare your friend who is scared of bugs - screams the camp site down at 2am in the morning!!! hahaha!! hilarious!
